Is Picton on North or South Island?
The beautiful port town of Picton is the starting point for exploring the straits of Marlborough Sounds. It is also a great place to buy souvenirs.
Located in the Marlborough region, at the northern tip of the South Island. Picton is the “bridge city” between the two islands, as it is where the port is located from which ferries that cross the Cook Strait connect.
It is a peaceful city, which has a marina and a large park on the beach, ideal place to enjoy the views of the bay. Its wide main street is populated with very well-designed souvenir shops, restaurants and cafes, many of which overlook the sea.
