The Museum of Contemporary Art (Museu de Arte Contemporânea, or Mac for short) is located in the immediate vicinity of the urban area of Rio de Janeiro in the city of Niterói. The extravagant building on the coast stands out from a distance.

The Museum of contemporary art was designed by the most famous Brazilian architect of modernism – Oscar Niemeyer. He has immortalized himself through his buildings throughout Brazil, be it in the government district of the capital Brasilia, the Pampulha Art Museum in Belo Horizonte or the edificio Copan in Saõ Paulo.
