Where is National World War II Memorial?

The monument commemorates the American soldiers or civilians who participated in World War II in some way. It was opened by President Bush in 2004 and has since become a popular destination for tourists.

The monument consists of 56 columns (one representing each U.S. state that existed in 1945 and each U.S. territory), two triumphal arches and a fountain, in the center of the square. There is also a peace wall with stars to commemorate those who lost their lives in the war (each star stands for 100 killed).

The monument is located between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. On days with good weather, the place is often full of people. But a walk from one Monument to another is a nice way to see the major landmarks of Washington.
