Muriwai, also called Muriwai Beach, is a coastal community located on the west coast of the North Island, New Zealand.


It is also home to a large colony of gannets. It is located about 17 km west of Kumeu, 42 kilometers northwest of the city of Auckland, at the southern end of a 50-kilometer stretch of uninterrupted beach stretching up the coast of the Tasman Sea to the mouth of Kaipara Harbor. One of several popular beaches in the area (others include Pika and Karekare), it experiences a demographic explosion in summer, when Auckland head to the sea.
