Where is Khon Kaen Located?

The province of Khon Kaen is located in the northeast of Thailand, also called Isaan. The capital of the province Khon Kaen, which is also the fourth largest city in Thailand, is located about 450 kilometers from the Thai metropolis Bangkok. Khon Kaen is often referred to as the gateway to the (northeast) Isaan-the city is an important hub in the northeast of Thailand and, alongside Nakhon Ratchasima, is the Centre for politics, trade and education in the Region. In the province there is also the largest University of Isaan – the Khon Kaen University.
