Where is Kanata Canada? Map of Kanata
What province is Kanata in?
Where is Kanata Canada? Canada comes from the word kanata which means settlement or village in the language of the Iroquoians of the St. Lawrence River.
This concept was used by the inhabitants of what is now Quebec City and it was then that the French colonizer Jacques Cartier used the term Canada to refer not only to that part of the territory, but also the entire adjacent territory. It was not until 1603 that the French explorer Samuel de Champlain arrived and established the first permanent settlements of New France, including Québec City, founded in 1608. In 1763, the Treaty of Paris ceded New France to England.
