Hamilton It is a town of Scotland located in the administrative area of South Lanarkshire, in the western part of the Lowlands.
Hamilton is the administrative center of South Lanarkshire and is located about 20 km southeast of Glasgow on the south bank of the River Clyde at the confluence with the river Avon water.


The town was once known as Cadzow and it was renamed in honor of James Hamilton, the Lord Hamilton who married the daughter of Princess Mary James II of Scotland. The Hamilton family had a great influence on the city, including the buildings built there is the mausoleum located in Strathclyde Park.
– History: Historical links between Hamilton and Châtellerault since the 16th century: the 2nd Earl of Arran, James Hamilton, Regent of Scotland, encouraged the marriage of little Mary (Queen of Scots) with the future Francis II, son of Henry II and Catherine de Medici. As a reward, James Hamilton received the Duchy of Châtellerault. He sent his son there to administer it and it was under his influence that Châtellerault became a Protestant. “Châtellerault” hunting lodge built between 1732 and 1744 for the 5th Duke of Hamilton; surrounded by a superb park of 250 hectares which shelters the Gorges of the Avon as well as the ruins of Cadzow Castle (l5th).
