What County is Barstow?
Barstow was a crossing and crossing station during its existence. At the time of the railways, the railways from the East came together here to travel the hard way across the last mountain range to Los Angeles. The Route 66, later the city’s lifeblood, meets the desert here, a route whose dangerousness can only be guessed on today’s Interstate. Barstow today, that is still a crossroads; he lives from passing through, but also the Army bases nearby. The Route 66 has not left much Charm here, more of it can be found in neighboring Victorville. But the Route 66, which is still accessible between Barstow and Victorville, does not spread here the typical Feeling nor any Charm between cement factories. Barstow also lives because of his proximity to Calico, a retort master town that haunts every bus trip.
