Flag of Mali

Mali is an African state, landlocked in the south-west of the Sahara. It is surrounded by Algeria, Niger, Burkina Faso, Côte d’ivoire, Guinea, Senegal and Mauritania.

Capital: Bamako (1.3 million inhabitants); other important localities : Sikasso (145,000 inhabitants), Mopti (108,999 inhabitants), Koutiala (99,000), Kayes Ndi (97,000), Segou (92,000), Gao (87,000) and Timbuktu . From an administrative point of view, Mali is divided into 8 regions (Gao, Kayes, Kidal, Koulikoro, Mopti, Segou, Sikasso, Timbuktu) and one district (Bamako).
