It has about 400,000 inhabitants and is the second largest and one of the most important industrial cities in the country. More than half of all industrial enterprises, including oil Refineries, are located here. Zarqa is also the capital of the province of the same name, where several thousand refugees from the West Bank live. Hard to believe that this fast-paced metropolis was originally a small Circassian settlement. The hijacked planes had to land there, and after long negotiations the hostages were finally free, and the planes were blown up.
