What County is Yuma?
Yuma is located directly on the California border, and not far from Mexico (Los Algodones), on the remains of the Colorado River (what the more northern irrigation areas left). In 1540, with Hernando de Alarcon and Melchior Diaz, the first Spaniards appeared at a Ford across the Colorado, the place where the city is located today.
After that, a settlement must have been created. In 1870, the railroad bridge over the Colorado was built. Yuma is the hottest city in the USA. The old Yuma prison, which is mentioned in many Western countries, is worth visiting. Parker was founded in 1908 and is the seat of La Paz County.
