The Whiteface Mountain Ski Area is located very close to the small winter sports resort of Lake Placid in the state of New York. It is located at an altitude of 1,337 meters on the homonymous Whiteface Mountain, which is the fifth highest mountain in New York, in the Adironack Mountains.
In the ski area, winter sports enthusiasts can expect a total of twelve lifts, including nine chair lifts. The 86 slopes are divided into all levels of difficulty from easy to difficult, with the red and black slopes predominating. The 3.4 km long Wilmington slope has a medium difficulty and is not only the longest slope in the ski area, but also the longest slope in the northeastern United States. Despite the good snow conditions, 99% of the ski area can also be artificially snowed with 335 snow cannons if required.
