Where is Watson Lake?

North of Prescott is Watson Lake. It is definitely worth a stopover. If you drive into the Park, you come to two parking spaces.

The lower one is rather uninteresting and more for anglers, but there are also the toilets.
From the upper parking lot you can reach the rocks that look out of the water. As with so many lakes in the USA, one can see how the water sinks further and further to satisfy the enormous thirst for water of the cities.
The rocks are similar to those in Joshua Tree Park and invite even the untrained to climb. If you want to climb the steep 1.4 billion-year-old granite rocks, you can sign up for a climbing school in Prescott. Bathing is allowed in the lake and the temperatures are even bearable. Boats or kayaks can also be rented.
A Trail leads around the lake. Since it is quite long and if you want to hike without a lot of time, you should take the path from the upper parking lot (Watson Lake Loop Trail and further on the Watson Dam Trail) to the dam and back.
