The resort is located in the west of the state of New York, not far from the small town of Watkins Glen. The State Park is located in the foothills of Seneca Lake, which is one of the eleven Finger Lakes.
The small State Park is just under three square kilometres in size and is home to spectacular natural forces in a small space. Massive glaciers formed the entire Seneca Valley during the last Ice Age, leaving behind a narrow but about 120 meters deep canyon that forms the center of Watkins Glen State Park. The stone escape forces the River Glen and overcomes 19 waterfalls in a picturesque way. While some passages, such as the Rainbow Falls, are rather dreamy, the water rushes over the drop-off edges in other places with much more dynamics.
