Where is Walnut Canyon National Monument?

The Walnut Canyon National Monument and me had a somewhat strained relationship for a long time. Accordingly harsh, much too harsh, my judgment was, which I could only revise in 2016 and revise this Text. A brief review:

1996: first visit to Walnut Canyon National Monument. That was still the” good ” old analogue time. Unfortunately, the ravages of time have gnawed so much at my old slides that only three pieces have made it into digital time (thanks to a slide scanner). All the others had a color cast that could no longer be corrected.

Pictures of the cliff dwellings from this time: not shown, although I already walked the Beautiful Island Trail (length: about one mile round trip), which leads into the about 200 m deep Walnut Canyon and passes very close to 25 Rock dwellings of the former inhabitants. The Anasazi began to colonize Walnut Canyon around 1100.
