What County is Tucson?
Tucson was founded by Spaniards before the French Revolution (1775). The history of the settlement, however, goes much further back into the past: the first settlement took place around 7000 BC, later by Hohokam Indians. The first Spaniard, Eusebio Francisco Kino, passed in 1692 and founded the neighbouring Mission Mission San Xavier del Bac in 1700.
In 1821, Tucson came to Mexico with independence, and in 1853 it was acquired by the United States. Today, it is in particular the starting point, to the East and to the West of the city, Saguaro National Park, the historically-rich area along the I-19 to Nogales in Mexico.
