Tuckaleechee Caverns is a series of caves and AAA GEM attraction in Townsend, Tennessee , near the Smoky Mountains. The caves were discovered in the mid-19th century and were opened to the public by Bill Vananda and Harry Myers in 1953. The caves are known for the “Big Room”, a huge cave / cave room that could fit a football stadium inside.

The caves have reached stalagmites 24 meters high with Riverstone formations hundreds of meters in length and width. Open from March 15th to March 15th November Tuckaleechee Caverns also has the highest underground waterfall in the country called “Silver Falls”, a 210-foot two – class waterfall.
