I took my granddaughter to the Museum when she went on vacation to MLK. She is 17 and loves to paint and draw, but also to photograph. We visited a large part of the main collection and then did the special exhibition of Norman Rockwell. The special exhibition was good, we got the free Audio Sets and took the time to get to know different works. My only complaint was that they were added to other works by other artists, which really made no sense. The other work was good in itself and worth introducing, but I have not seen how important it is to take photos of soldiers or other war scenes from the first and Second World Wars. Yes, Norman Rockwell did many cover versions for the Saturday Evening Post of soldiers during the war, but how did a GI picture by W. Eugene Smith come to this and others like it? It seemed as if they were looking for fillers to enlarge the exhibition space.
But it was still a good day and my family membership brought us everything for free and a discount on parking in the Deck attached.
