Where is Tacna Located?
The city of Tacna is located in the extreme south of Peru, only 60 kilometers north of the Chilean port city of Arica. With about 320,000 inhabitants, it is one of the largest cities of southern Peru. Tacna is known mainly as a commercial city and a gateway to Chile.

Deserts and fertile valleys form unique areas in this region, which is embedded between the coast and the plateau. The history can be traced back to the time of the cave paintings in the Cuevas de Toquepala. In the 19th century, Tacna was the scene of important episodes of the nitriding war. The waves on the beaches are quiet. There are thermal springs and mountain lakes in the lower areas of the Andean Cordillera.
The extensive vineyards are home to lush grapes, which are processed into export wines and Piscos. Tacna is the epitome of national pride.
Location: southeast Peru, on the border with Chile. The area includes desert, volcano and mountain landscapes.
