What Country is Tabora in? Tabora is a city in Tanzania and has about 160,608[2] inhabitants. It is located at an altitude of 1241 m about 1140 km from the port town of Dar es Salaam in the Tanzania inland. In the 19th century, Tabora was a central trading place for the East African caravan trade. With the construction of the railway during the German colonial period, this meaning was lost. Today, Tabora is the capital of the Tabora region of the same name, seat of the Catholic Archbishop of Tabora, seat of the West province of the Moravian Church of Tanzania (Herrnhuter) and an Anglican bishopric.
