Where is Sopron Located?

What Country is Sopron in?
The area of today’s Sopron has already been inhabited during the Iron Age, which is confirmed by The Hill tombs of the nearby forests. Later, the Romans founded the settlement Scarabantia, which was located directly on the historically significant amber road. After the Roman Empire, the settlement was abandoned and only in the 10th century the Magyars settled here. In 1277, the town became a Royal Free City, as it settled Ottokar of Bohemia. With its central location, the city was able to flourish economically over the next centuries.
