If you are traveling along the Great Lakes, it is worth stopping at the Soo Locks. There is a Visitor Center with information about the history and operation of the locks. This is open until 9 pm in summer, the viewing platform until 10 pm. Since there is lock operation around the clock, you always get to see a ship that locks between Lake Superior and Lake Huron. For those interested, there are even Apps with the schedule and in the Visitor Center you can also find out when which ship arrives. The whole thing is free.
