Where is Sohag Located?

The city of Sohag (also Suhaj, Sōhāg or Sōhādsch called) is located on the West Bank of the Nile, about 470 kilometers South of Cairo. The town has been inhabited since ancient times. Until the 19th century, Sohag was only a village, but it has now become the provincial capital. Currently, an estimated 200,000 people live in Sohag.
