Where is San Jose (Costa Rica) Located?

At the beginning of the 19th century San José was only a small insignificant village, about 25 km from the then capital Cartago. After the capital status changed several times between Cartago, San José and today’s fourth largest city Alajuela, the first elected president of Costa Rica, Juan Mora Fernández, finally moved the capital to San José in the early 1820s. This gave the small village a great upswing.
