Saʿda (Arabic: صعدة), also Şa’dah, Sadah, and Saada, is the capital of the SA’da governorate in northwestern Yemen. Sa’da is located at an altitude of about 1870 meters.

At the time of the Zaidi rule, Saada had been the capital since 860, but in 1918 the residence was moved to Sanaa, where Ottoman governors had repeatedly resided since the 17th century.

Sa’da has a long Tradition as a centre and goods hub in northern Yemen and for the export of goods to Saudi Arabia. The caravan routes of the Incense Route led through the village. Around the medieval town, built from Stampede clay, grows a busy New Town with typical streets of garage-like workshops and shops.
