This museum in Ventura County celebrates the life of the former movie star and Californian who became one of the most famous presidents of the 20th century. But it has also won Fans for its impressive exhibitions, from an Air Force One to a piece of the Berlin Wall. Located on 100 Acres with views across the Pacific Ocean, this Presidential Museum is perhaps one of the nation’s most picturesque.
In fact, the Reagan Library regularly tops the list of Presidential museums in terms of visitors (on average, about half a Million visitors come each year). But the appeal goes further than just politics. “You don’t have to be a Republican to get excited about something,” says Melissa Giller, Chief Marketing Office of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute. “Our visitors learn a lot about American history and about the U.S. presidency in general.“
The main galleries offer an insight into Reagan’s Childhood and his former career, as well as a simple introduction to the Reagan presidency, the Olympic Boycott, the talks with Gorbachev, and even the assassination attempt (see the jacket worn by Reagan at the time). Interactive exhibitions offer you the opportunity to become active yourself: ride a horse next to Reagan on his Rancho del Cielo, play in one of his Hollywood movies or scroll through a digital version of his diary.
