The Oil Billionaire John D. Rockefeller Jr. had 228 houses reduced to rubble and ashes in the middle of Manhattan in order to build a city in the 1930s.
Fourteen skyscrapers are part of this huge complex, including the General Electric Building, Radio Music Hall, Christie’s auction house and NBC. The Rockefeller Center spans three blocks in the Karee between the famous Fifth Avenue and the Avenue of the Americas (Sixth Avenue), West 47th Street and 52nd Street. With a height of 259.1 m, the GE Building is the tallest of the building complex.
