Where is Rijeka Located?

The metropolis of Rijeka, which has a population of 144,000, is located in the north of the Kvarner Bay region, between the two popular rives of Opatija and Crikvenica. Rijeka is not only an important commercial centre but also one of the most important transport hubs of the holiday country Croatia.

This city has already developed into one of the largest port cities in this part of Europe in the 19th century thanks to its ideal geographical location. Rijeka was also one of the financial hubs of the former Yugoslavia.

Due to the expansion of the new bypass motorway above Rijeka, however, traffic in the city has been greatly reduced and has a positive effect on the air conditions and makes the city an interesting holiday destination again.
