Portales is located in the east of New Mexico, near the Texas border. The city was known for the cultivation of sweet potatoes and peanuts. In the area, however, oil is also being produced to a greater extent. There is a large collection of wind turbines and windmills. The area was only at the end of the 19th century. Century populated the collection to the town took place in 1909. In Fort Sumner you will find many traces of the Outlaws, Billy the Kid. Portales, Fort Sumner and Tucumcari are among the poorest cities in New Mexico.
