What County is Plano?
Plano is the ninth largest city in Texas. Numerous major companies have their headquarters here, including Dr Pepper / Seven Up, Inc. The settlement of the area began around 1840. 1872 the place received a connection to the railway, in 1873 it was declared a city. The name of the city comes from a mistake: the inhabitants called the City Plano because they believed that this meant in Spanish “level”.
Level, however, is called Llano in Spanish. In 1881, a fire destroyed almost the entire city. In 1960, Plano had only 3,700 inhabitants, then the population began to explode. Today, the region around Plano is one of the fastest growing areas in the United States. Denton is known for his university. Plano and Frisco are among the most prosperous cities in the U.S., Lewisville, McKinney and Rockwall are among the most prosperous places in Texas.
