The city of Piatra Neamţ, the residence of the district of Neamţ, is located on the river valley Bistriţa, at its exit between the mountains, at the confluence with the Cuiejdi stream. Piatra Neamț is located in a basin within the mountain massif, at an altitude of 310 m, surrounded by the peaks of Pietricica (590 m) to the Southeast, Cozla (679 m) to the North, Cernegura (852 m) in the southwest, Cârloman (617 m) in the North-West and Bâtca Doamnei (462 m) to the southwest.
