Where is Osh Located?

OSH, the second largest city of Kyrgyzstan, is located in the southwest of the country, right on the Uzbek border. So it is not surprising that almost half of the approximately 300,000 inhabitants are Uzbeks – the other 40% are Kyrgyz and the Rest are Russians as well as other ethnic groups.

Due to the location in the Fergana basin, the soil is very fertile and exudes Mediterranean Flair with hibiscus bushes and plane trees. This circumstance and other reasons, led between Uzbeks and Kyrgyz repeatedly to fights and riots, which had their sad climax in the summer of 2010, when in Osh the houses burned and countless Uzbeks were either murdered or fled.
