The ” new ” capital of Myanmar is called Naypyidaw (also spelled Nay Pyi Taw) and is located in the interior, about 380 km north of the old capital Rangoon. This newly built city has only existed since 2002 – since 2005 it has been the capital. The construction of the city began secretly in 2000. On November 6, 2005, it officially became the new capital at 6:37 a.m. With an area of 7054,4 square kilometres it is the largest city in Myanmar from the city centre.

The new government capital is one of the greenest capitals of Asia with large green areas and a clear air. Designed on the drawing board, this ghost town is divided into different zones: a zone for government buildings, one for government employees ‘ homes, zones for shopping and Hotels.
