Where is National Portrait Gallery?

As Heise reports, there has been a dispute between the London National Portrait Gallery (NPG) and the Wikimedia Foundation, the US-based sponsoring organization of Wikipedia.

What had happened? Wikipedia Administrator Derrick Coetze had uploaded 3,200 high-resolution images to the Wikipedia free media archive Wikimedia Commons, which he had previously downloaded from the NPG Website. In the meantime, the lawyers of the NPG have written to Coetze to request that the pictures be published by 20 January 2018. In the event of non-compliance, the parties shall take legal action. The Wikimedia Foundation shows solidarity with Coetze by declaring that the user’s actions are not objectionable from their point of view, but will probably not take sides in a legal dispute.
