Where is Mushroom Rock State Park?

The Dakota formations, part of the Smoky Hill Region in the northern part of the state, are the remains of beach sand and sediments from the Cretaceous, the geological time span of about 144 to 66 million years ago. Sanstone and sedimentary rock are held together by natural cement. The Pilcon Rocks are made of cemented calcium carbonate.
