In 1976, the minor Franciscans were invited by the responsible Bishop to Montero to develop the pastoral care. Shortly thereafter, the parish council of St. Suitbertus with the then pastor, father Lukas Schwarz, took over a sponsorship for this Mission. This sponsorship has grown in many ways over the last 30 years.

The almost prophetic visions of our first missionaries in Montero set the course for the rapid development of the then still small town. In the initially sparsely populated districts sister communities were settled, which led to the emergence of the new urban areas. The many settlers moved primarily there from the Andes in the hope of being able to lead their lives better and more hopeful.
