Where is Lowell Observatory?

In 1894 the astronomer Percival Lowell founded the Observatory 1.6 km west of the city centre. In 1930 Clyde Tombaugh discovered here the outermost planet Pluto (which is no longer considered a Planet).

It photographed sections of the night sky at six-day intervals and searched for movements of the small points of light. Since stars do not change their Position, the Tiny Moving point has been identified as a Planet. Lowell’s Clark telescope is on display and is used for night sky observations. Interactive exhibitions focus on the basics of astronomy and space travel.
