The port town of Lorient is located in the middle of a lush green hilly landscape at the mouth of the Blavet and Scorff rivers in the Morbihan Department.
In 1666, Colbert founded the indien company in the town of Port-Louis. From now on, the city continued to develop thanks to trade, fishing and military shipbuilding. The town of Lorient, which was heavily bombed during the Second World War, was rebuilt in the 1950s. Its architectural heritage includes beautiful 18th-century townhouses, the India Quay, houses from the 1930s, the Perystil and Gabriel townhouse Ensemble, reminiscent of the India Company.
Guided tours offer the opportunity to discover the Keroman submarine base, the largest fortress of the 20th century, designed to accommodate submarines.
