“In this temple, as in the hearts of the people for whom he saved the Union, the memory of Abraham Lincoln is forever recorded” is the inscription of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.. A monument to the 16th president of the USA, Abraham Lincoln. He was the protector, Liberator and saviour of the Nation during the Civil War. The Lincoln Memorial was built between 1915 and 1922 and stands at the western end of the National Mall in Washington D.C. in West Potomac Park.

Near the Lincoln Memorial stands the Capitol and the Washington Monument with the Reflecting Pool. The Lincoln Memorial is modeled after ancient Greek temples and was built and developed by architect Henry Bacon as a neoclassical monument.
