What Country is Limassol in?

Limassol is the second largest city of Cyprus with its 235,000 inhabitants, after the capital Nikosía. The port city is located on the south coast of the island, in the Bay of Akrotiri, and is considered a center for tourism and trade.

The importance of Limassol has increased considerably as a result of the Turkish Invasion in 1974. The Republic of Cyprus lost at that time, the cities of Kyrenia, with the largest port of Cyprus, and Famagusta, one of the most important tourist destinations in the Turkish occupiers. Limassol was able to combine both roles in the coming years. Since many refugees from the north have settled in the city, Limassol has today twice as many inhabitants as before the Invasion and thus also changed visually strongly.
