Where is Ko Samet Located?

Koh Samet is a small island in the Thai Gulf, which is mainly visited by Thais-many locals from Bangkok spend their short vacation here.

But more and more Western tourists are finding their way to the island, which is about 6 kilometres long and 2 kilometres wide. Due to its ideal location in central Thailand, Koh Samet is suitable for a short swim at one of the powder – fine white sandy beaches on your arrival or departure.

What Country is Ko Samet in?

The popular bathing island Koh Samet is located about 190 km east of Bangkok, just behind the town of Rayong, about 6.5 km from the mainland. On weekends, and especially on holidays, the accommodations on this small island are fully booked long in advance. The best known and busiest beaches are Ao Wong Duan Beach and Hat Sai Kaew Beach (crystal or Diamond Beach) – both are located on the east coast of Koh Samet and are usually very well visited. The Ao Phrao Beach on the West Coast, on the other hand, invites rather peace – seeking holidaymakers to linger-in addition, you have a wonderful view of the sunset from here.
