Where is John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park?

John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, the first underwater park in the USA, covers about 70 nautical miles. While the mangrove swamps and tropical hammocks in the highland areas of the park offer visitors a unique experience, it is the coral reefs and associated underwater world that bring most visitors to the Park.

Many enjoy the view of the reef from a glass-bottomed boat Tour, but visitors can take a closer look while diving or snorkeling. Canoeing and kayaking through the waters of the park are popular activities. Fishing is allowed in designated areas. Visitors can take short walks, picnic or swim on the beach. The visitor center has a 30,000 gallon saltwater aquarium and its Theater features nature videos. Full facilities and youth / group campsites are available. Beach wheelchairs are available free of charge. Florida State Parks are committed to equal access to all facilities and programs.
