Where is Jaffna Located?

Jaffna is located on a peninsula at the northern tip of Sri Lanka and is therefore closer to India than to the Sri Lankan capital Colombo. Culturally as well as politically, Jaffna often has the feeling that it is more similar to Indian Tamil Nadu than Sri Lanka. Therefore, a stay in Jaffna can also be a bit of a cultural shock if you have travelled around Sri Lanka for a long time and become familiar with Sri Lankan culture.
