Cameroon is located on the Gulf of Guinea and borders Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and the Republic of the Congo in the south, the Central African Republic in the East and Chad and Nigeria in the North.
Cameroon lies between 2° and 13 ° latitude North and 8° and 16° longitude East, at the intersection between West Africa and Central Africa. The country originated from the southern part of a British Mandate area and a French managed territory. It was transferred from the league of nations after the first World War as a former German colony to these two powers. France, however, had at that time already occupied the areas assigned to the German Reich in 1911, which formed a corridor to the Congo, again his own colonial empire. So today, Cameroon is the territory of the German colony, around 1910, without the Northern part of the British mandate territory of in favour of in a referendum for remaining in Nigeria.
