Where is Gates of the Arctic National Park?

The Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve is one of the most beautiful wilderness regions in the world and with over 34,000 square kilometers after the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park is the second largest national park in Alaska.

It is located north of the Arctic Circle in the Brooks Range, America’s northernmost mountain range, and extends to the vast coastal plain of the North Slope. The extension from East to West is 1280 kilometers.

The majority of the Park is a fascinating blend of glaciated valleys, barren, rugged mountains and the vast Expanses of the Arctic Tundra. Here, grizzly bears, wolves, Dallschafe, moose and caribou are at home. Trout and local fish such as Grayling and Arctic Char flourish in the streams, rivers and lakes.
