Take the old Tram from Canal Street along St. Charles Avenue to the Garden District (eg exit at Washington Avenue) and then walk through the magnificent streets.
Tip: in the Commanders Place Restaurant (also very good) at Lafayette Cemetery, there are free maps of the surrounding area in the entrance area with descriptions of the villas in the Garden District.
