Where is El Obeid Located?

In the middle of Kordofan, El Obeid, the centre of the Region, about 370 km southwest of Khartoum and to the North of the Nuba mountains. A good asphalt road connects the city with Khartoum. In 1880, the city was a gathering place of the Mahdi movement, which is still noticeable today. In the 18th century, their prosperity was mainly due to caravans on their way north and slave trade.
