This train is hauled by a historic coal-fired, steam-powered locomotive through the Magnificent Wilderness of the San Juan Mountains in southwestern Colorado. By the Impressions feel transported back to the last century.

On August 5, 1881, the Denver & Rio Grande Railway moved its headquarters to Durango. In the same year, construction of the railway began. In July 1882, only 9 months later, the rails were laid to Silverton and freight and passengers began to be transported. This railway line was designed to transport silver and gold ore from the San Juan Mountains. But the passengers soon realized that it was the view that was really interesting.

This historic railway has been in continuous operation for 127 years and passengers are driven on this railway line through the wilderness behind a steam locomotive.
