Where is Catamarca Located?
The province of Catamarca is one of the many undiscovered beauties of Argentina. It is located in the northwest of the country and has a share of the Andes with their multi-coloured valleys, the legendary plateau of Puna and the Sierras Pampeanas. From primeval wetlands in the east to semi-deserts in the West, it offers a lot of variety. Three mountain ranges running north-south, the Andes, the Voranden and the Sierras Pampeanas, act as a weather divide, so that each Region has its own microclimate.
What Country is Catamarca in?
Catamarca remains one of the poorest provinces in the country, despite a recovery since the 1990s. For centuries feudal conditions prevailed. The Saadi family’s mismanagement, which dominated the Peronist provincial and government until the early nineties, established such a corrupt System that the province was intervened by the national government following a murder in 1991, was notorious.
