Where is Canaveral National Seashore?
This is a special beach. This barrier island is not far from the John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The fact is, many visitors came here earlier to see the Space Shuttle launch.
At the south end of the park you can also reach the chain link fence that separates this national park with beach from NASA grounds. We are here in the northeastern part of Florida and it is strange to experience one of the highest human developments (space travel) so close to a primeval and untouched spot of nature.
In 1955, a scientific team from the National Park Service (NPS) visited this stretch of coast and found that it was a priceless landscape and scientific rarity for which there is no substitute. Years passed and a hard political struggle to place 57,000 hectares of land under special nature protection. In total there are 38 kilometers of coastline. The public beach is 4 kilometers long and is located between New Smyrna Beach and Titusville.
